Wordpress 2.6… mmm, cheezy.

I do love Wordpress’ ease of maintenance – finally got off my butt to do a version upgrade since it’s been pestering me to do so for a couple months. 10 minutes later, job’s done. Probably take someone with less certainty 45 or so, but still – easy peasy.

Big win for this version? Google Gears integration – less for the ‘offline’ aspect, more for the fact that now all the javascript, CSS, and whatnot – 211 files worth – are cached locally, independent of actual browser cache. Means instead of it taking 10 seconds or so for the various admin elements to show up, it takes 1. Big difference.

Going to go enjoy making an alfredo sauce. If it’s really as easy as How to Cook Everything says… this will usher in a new era of unhealthy, tasty homemade pasta sauces in this house.

The Black Mantle

Just an odd thought that goes through my head whenever I see this thing – Penny Arcade’s Black Mantle. I look at it and think “Wow, that’s cool, but I’m never doing anything where I could wear it”. It’s kind of like something I’ve seen women do looking at a particularly elegant dress. Same line.

Of course, in my case, it’s because the Black Mantle is covered in the most clearly misanthropic text I’ve seen on a shirt, as opposed to the cut being too elegant or something. Good to know that even with the people at my job irking me, I don’t yet feel like I should go into work some Friday wearing that shirt.

Yay!

Cooking is an ecstacy all its own.

A well-made dish makes everything better. CPK’s Chicken Tequila Fetuccine is delightful.

Also, cooking with booze always reminds me of The Rum Cake Recipe.
